Rhythmote use case

I have a Creative xmod wireless setup.
In my computer room, I have an old desktop that I use now as my media box, it has all my music on it. Attached to it is a Creative Xmod wireless transmitter:

About 17 yards away in my living room, I have my speakers attached to the Xmod receiver:

Across in the living room, I have my laptop that I use to remotely control Rhythmbox on the desktop wirelessly. So i can listen to music while working, or just enjoying a bottle of wine:) (and no, i wasn't drinking wine from that cup!)

Anyway nice plugin :)

Thanks - it works! (more than I could say for Rhytmweb...) You might add a reminder for people to open up port 8000 in their firewalls...
Can a toggle be added to enable/disable shuffle?

hi, i ran into a problem, i am running xubuntu 9.x and have over 15000 songs in my playlist. the plugin won't load the songs into the playlist, it is actually making rhythmbox player to freeze...

any ideas, sugestions?

@gavu..15000 will be a problem...I only have about 3000 songs and even that causes the javascript to be somewhat slow....I will when I have time look into improving performance...for now the plug-in just grabs every song in your library. Eventually I'll add functionality that will allow you to select play-lists, which should help with huge libraries....unfortunately I have no working suggestion at the moment other than significantly reducing the songs in your library. Am sure even the browser would be sluggish with 150K rows on an HTML table.

Hey, just found this app and it's greatly appreciated!

I was thinking, though, what if you turned this into an Android and/or iPhone app? The VLC Remote for Android comes in very handy.

This is a cool project - Thanks for doing it !

I also suffer from the large library issue - Is there a way ( for now )to just disable library import and only enable shuttle controls on the rhythmote web page ?

thanks

How about not loading every song, but just having a search interface (search for Artist or Song Title, with wildcards), which brings up a much smaller list.

Then you can pick items from that list to add to the current queue.

Oh, and one more thought ... I notice that if you're already playing a playlist on the host machine, the small control interface is all you really need. So how about a cut down version without the music list at all? This could be used on small screen devices such as wi-fi mobile phones, as a remote control.

Or ... have the ability to switch the music list on and off in the plugin options.

How's the API upgrade (for newer versions of rhythmbox)?
It would be great to have a configurable port number in case you have tons of other web-accessible stuff running on the machine.
